Customer Feedback

Paul Goldsmith did the renovation of our house in Azerables. The renovation included painting the interior, renovating two bathrooms and the kitchen and building a living room and bedroom in the attic from scratch. Almost the whole project was done on his own, we live in South Africa, and the quality of work done was always superb and always on time. Our house is always available if anyone wants to see the quality of his work. I have detailed pictures available of all the rooms before renovation was started. He is about to start on the house next door that will become a guest house. If anybody wants to contact me directly I am available at gr@sun.ac.za.

Paul has completed a number of projects for us over the last several years, and all have been delivered just as we hoped they would be. These have included complete conversion of an old animal barn as a self-contained apartment for visitors, conversion of stone outbuilding adjacent to the house as a new bathroom, complete redesign of the house’s  first floor bedroom layout, and restoration of a small single-roomed house in the grounds as a ‘writing hut’.  He is excellent at listening to requirements, adding suggestions which invariably improve the plan, and getting on with the work with minimal supervision. We knew we’d be contacted if any decisions were required.  We found the pricing understandable and reasonable, and had clear choices presented when there were alternative ways of proceeding.  We had no nasty cost surprises, even when we agreed to change things during the work. We would not hesitate to use Paul for future projects.

Having moved to France we have been lucky to have met Paul and indeed he and his wife found some excellent accommodation at short notice, at this time we had just had an offer accepted on a derelict barn near Arnac La Poste and also discovered that Paul was a builder and just as a bonus could speak French.  Paul has the knowledge that I did not on how the French system works in relation to renovations. Over the next years he turned what was a derelict barn into a fully renovated property and went beyond what I would expect of a builder.  He has a excellent network of tradesmen who are tried and tested for installations of septic tanks or connections to mains electricity etc. Paul is a hard worker punctual and the end result of his work has always been excellent and to give some idea of the works he completed on my property I have listed the work he undertook. The roof space fully insulated and plasterboarded. Running of cabling for electrics, tv and phone lines. New openings made for windows and windows fitted.

Existing opening new windows and doors fitted. False walls built and plaster boarded. All domestic plumbing pipework and fitting of showers toilets etc.  Kitchen fitting to a very high standard, plus roof repairs. The list just goes on and on and I have never seen him beaten by whatever was asked of him and I certainly gave him some challenges. This is one builder I can highly recommend he does a excellent job at the right price and just simply does what he says he is going to do. He also knows his way round the French system with regards to what bits of paper work you need, contact with the Marie, best prices and where to get materials and even general advice about getting to know the French way of life.
To sum up, you will not find a better tradesman!
